TLC for TLC

General donations for TLC can be made in a number of ways.  These donations, along with our membership fees, provide the core support for TLC to function.  They help pay for such things as our office space, telephones and computers, paper and pens, light bulbs, our website and our key staff.  If we cannot keep up with such core operating costs, TLC would simply not be able to function.

While most of our public fundraising focuses on the immediate need to raise funds to protect properties at risk we cannot forget the infrastructure that allows us to do this work.  It’s one of the ironies of most charities and non-profit organizations that most struggle to maintain there core operations.  Most government, foundation and corporate funding programs concentrate on providing support directly for program delivery, and provide only a marginal amount for the infrastructure that allows that program delivery to be successful.

TLC has always been proud of the fact that our administrative costs have been extremely low (varying between approximately 2% and 7% of our total expenditures).  We intend to keep those costs as low as possible, but it is critical that we continue to meet our basic operational needs.
