TLC Enterprises

In an ongoing quest to increase TLC’s revenues through more than memberships and fundraising campaigns, a giant step forward was taken in 2001 with the establishment of TLC The Land Conservancy (Enterprises) Ltd., a separate for-profit entity.   TLC Enterprises is wholly owned by TLC The Land Conservancy, and is managed in trust by the Board of TLC.  It strives to support and promote the work of TLC through activities and services that generate income and increase public awareness.

TLC Enterprises continuously seeks to initiate, enhance and expand commercial activities to ensure profitability in order to assist the charity meet its mandate. These activities take place on various properties owned by TLC. Enterprises pays TLC rent for the properties it uses and all profit earned is passed directly back to TLC for its numerous projects.  It is an example of how TLC works in a responsible way to maximize income and, where possible and appropriate, help to make properties self-supporting.

Enterprises is also responsible for increasing public awareness through the development of quality products such as souvenir items with the TLC logo and gift items unique to each site in which it operates.  Its business plan is constantly analyzed to determine activities that are the most viable and beneficial for TLC.

Currently, TLC Enterprises operates four activity streams:

  • Gift Shops: a full gift shop is operating at Abkhazi Garden.


  • Tea Rooms: currently our only fully operating tea room is located at Abkhazi Garden.


  • Conservation Holidays: these are a great way to experience special places all over B.C. Our holidays are for people looking to try something different during their vacation.   • Cottage Rentals: TLC owns several properties containing cottages or cabins which it has made available for groups or individuals to rent for vacations.  TLC Enterprises administers these rentals.  See our Cottage Rentals page for more details.
