Hurrah ! Great news !

So sad to have to spend so much of our public tax funds to clean up such an irresponsible decision by ex Forests Minister Rich Coleman, but given the circumstances, a good ending.

I have never been more proud to be a member of TLC. Those WFP Lands are so valuable and spectacular - they have to be protected from development at all costs! I am overjoyed that the TLC has stepped in to keep those lands the way they were meant to be - natural and priceless. My membership in the TLC was the best money that I have ever spent in my lifetime.

In my opinion, any deal to purchase those lands must NOT involve Brookfield Asset Management ! That company is the biggest real estate company in the world and you can bet your life that they are hungry to get their hands on those gorgeous west coast beaches and world renowned panoramas. Brookfield Asset Management should NEVER get their hands on those precious lands - that company should NOT have any part of any negotiations or land deals !

Bravo Bill Turner and the TLC !!

Great these properties are irreplaceable. The trail along Charters Creek is wonderful butterfly habitate, mature big leaf maple, great, enhanced salmon spawning, Sandcut beach We have made our donation to its preservation. When we travel this summer our carbon off set money will go to preserving these land; a further donation. We will not have a supernatural British Columbia with our wild coast unless all of us step forward and pull our government with us. I hope the UBC proposal can go ahead to capture all of the WFP lands

Sandcut Beach and The Jordon River Beach Front pretty well speak for themselves and clearly should be open to the public. The Todd Creek Valley is an absolutely essential part of the Sea to Sea Green Belt. It not only contains the historic Harrison Trail from the Potholes to Grass Lake, but it provides the most accessable route to Empress Mountain, the highest feature in the area. Existing Trails connect Shields Lake and Grass Lake to Peden Lake and the wonderful hiking area around Peden Bluffs and Flower Ridge which was purchased recently by The TLC and the CRD. This valley forms the final link for those wanting to hike from Tod Creek where it flows into Tod Inlet beside Butchart Gardens and Todd Creek where it flows into the Sooke River by the Potholes.

Hi Joan

I was involved in this acquisition from very early on. I had the pleasure of spending a fair amount of time with Carl Boyd as we worked on the fulfillment of his goal of securing some land to commemorate the life of his wife. He was an extraordinary man who suffered tremendously towards the end of his life while battling diabetes. Despite his challenges, he was always enthusiastic about the prospect of finding and securing what eventually became the Natasha Boyd Wetland Conservation Area. I have to say that the evening that we unveiled the plaque that now stands close to the Conservation Area to him, and to his family that had traveled from Nevada, was a very special experience for everyone involved. It is certainly an experience that I will never forget. I consider it an honour to have both met and worked with Carl on this project
