More Information:
ALM Organic Farm was formerly the site of the Harris’s Turnip farm in Sooke, B.C. Owned by Jan and Mary-Alice Johnson, the 15-acre farm and restored heritage farm house was purchased in 1986. Half of the property is forested with Western Red Cedars, Hemlock and Fir with a salal and fern understory.  It is frequented by a diversity of wildlife including bears, cougars, martens, owls, ravens, and ducks. King Creek runs through the property and flows into the salmon bearing Tugwell creek.

Mary-Alice has been active both nationally and locally working to promote sustainable agriculture and food security. Serving in such capacities as president of the Canadian Organic Growers,  the Moss St Market, Sooke Food Chi and farmer mentorship and farmer land assess groups. Mary-Alice also has a thriving organic seed business, Full Circle Seeds available at local seedy Saturday and farmers markets.

ALM Farm has been at the centre of the organic movement that has attracted over 1000 visitors and trained over 200 potential farmers. Including, Marika  Nagasaka who came eight years ago and is now her farm partner.  Sustainable buildings, greenhouses, chickens, bee keeping, cooking classes, wine/beer making, wildcrafting,  are some of the activities that go on at ALM farm.
