Gabi and Dave Cursons produce a wide variety of organic vegetables on this farm, including zucchini and squash.
More Information: Dumpling Dale is nestled in the Similkameen Valley, in the town of Cawston, BC. The beautiful setting is a constant reminder of how agriculture is part of a larger ecosystem. The farm’s rich soils and green crops are dramatically framed by the steep, rocky hillsides and shrub-steppe grasslands that are natural habitat to a vast range of native plants and animals, many of which are threatened or endangered. The Cursons’ have planted dozens of native shrubs along their south and east fence line to create a ‘nature belt’ around a section of their farming plots. The nature belt has thickets of rose, dogwood, sages, rabbit-brush and more. They are hoping to continue building up this belt with more native plants as it is used by many rodents, birds and larger mammals. |
