More Information:
Ken and Mellhina Thibault were looking for a lifestyle change when they bought their orchard in the fall of 2003. Living in an agricultural community has given them cause to reflect on the “footprint” they want to leave on the land, and they have consciously made efforts to restore a valuable stream/wetland area on their property to the benefit of frogs and salamanders. One of Casa Del Mell’s many charms is that it has one of the oldest road-side fruit stands in the Osoyoos area.

The Thibault’s have completed an Environmental Farm Plan and practice Integrated Pest Management. They also work with the school system in Prince George to connect kids to the life cycle of orchard trees. By sending them cherry clippings with buds in the spring, kids can learn about cherry blossoms. The kids are also learning about the restoration of the stream.

Ken and Mell recognize their good fortune to live and work in such a beautiful valley and make efforts to share their abundance with others. They are socially conscious and donate large amounts of fresh fruit to food banks, families in need, and inner city school lunch programs in various BC communities.
