The Conservation Partners Program is an initiative of The Land Conservancy. The Program supports good land stewardship for the benefit of both agriculture and conservation.
By providing recognition, incentives, and assistance, TLC helps farmers and ranchers protect, enhance or restore natural systems. Activities are diverse and can include planting hedgerows for wildlife and pollinator habitat, fencing riparian areas, adopting eco-forestry practices or restoring fish spawning areas. Ranchers in the North use grazing to restore and manage fragile grasslands while farmers on the Lower Mainland protect pockets of endangered ecosystems from urban development.

Participating farmers and ranchers are recognized through a Conservation Partners label for their produce, products, and farm gate. learn more about our Conservation Partners Program and how to be involved, see Guidelines for Participation and Stewardship Agreements. |
Many of our Conservation Partners are organic. Organic producers use practices that help prevent soil erosion, conserve energy, and aid in protecting ecosystems. Additional recognition of sustainable practices and connections to markets are available to producers through Local Food Plus (LFP). LFP Certified Local Sustainable farmers and processors reduce or eliminate pesticide use, treat their animals well, conserve soil and water, protect wildlife habitat, provide safe and fair working conditions, reduce energy use, and sell locally wherever possible. LFP certification was introduced in B.C. in 2009 and several of our Conservation Partners are completing the process of becoming LFP certified.
To learn more about organic certification, see the Certified Organic Associations of British Columbia. For more information about LFP certification, visit Local Food Plus.
