VICTORIA, B.C. – Join a selection of Victoria’s finest chefs on October 4, 2009, 12 to 6 p.m. as they show you just how far they’ll go to protect the farms that fuel their restaurants.
Come cheer on these amazing chefs as they battle the obstacles and race to find the food and the utensils they need to create two masterpieces right before your eyes at Madrona farm. Learn fabulous techniques to make farm fresh ingredients come to life as they are transformed into the center pieces of this culinary event.
Each chef arrives at the Madrona farm bringing only their utensils, condiments and a protein of their choice. Their mission: using the maps provided, negotiate the course to retrieve their supplies, select the fresh vegetables grown and provided by the farm and create their masterpieces! When complete these treasures will be auctioned off by world famous chef/educator and culinary mentor; David Mincey.
Join us for an afternoon of local music, spirits and edible art. Performances by Mae Moore, Lester Quitzau, and other musical favourites. All proceeds will go to protect Madrona Farm, in association with The Land Conservancy of BC, in their effort to secure the farm’s continued viability for future generations.
Tickets are $75, and available at Madrona farm stand, 4317 Blenkinsop Rd., Wednesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Capital Iron locations (downtown Victoria and Sidney), and Hemp & Company (Government Street store). Limited number of tickets available.
